If you are interested in the history of gastronomy and related disciplines, we suggest you should not miss following museums and exhibitions:
Permanent exhibition – BAROQUE IN BOHEMIA – Schwarzenberg Palais
Lower ground – THE DINING HALL
A unique exhibition based on a concept by Petra Matějovičová shows the changes in dining during the Baroque Period – especially development of crockery from individual pieces to large dinner service sets. Two parallel long glass display cases visually suggest a dining table and its long journey from chaos to order. The cutlery on display is definitely worth seeing – it is a selection from the large collection of historical cutlery, for the first time after many years on show to the general public in this range.
Exhibition – CHINA AT THE PRAGUE CASTLE - Queen Anne's Summer Palace (Letohrádek královny Anny) 31/5 – 11/9/2011
On display on the first floor is a suggestive installation with examples of Hapsburg dining. The historical dining display is followed by samples of table setting during important state occasions at the Prague Castle.
